How these figures are produced

VA publishes compensation rate tables annually at VA.gov. Rates change on December 1 each year when Congress sets the COLA (cost-of-living adjustment) tied to the Social Security Administration's COLA. The figures on this page are transcribed directly from VA.gov, stored in a validated data file, and checked automatically on every build. The source URL and retrieval date are recorded alongside every figure; see our methodology for details on the validation pipeline.

These rates apply to veterans with service-connected disabilities. The monthly amount depends on the final combined rating (rounded to the nearest 10%) and, for ratings of 30% or higher, the number and type of dependents. The combined rating is calculated under 38 CFR §4.25, not by simple addition. Run the combined-rating calculator to see your combined value before rounding, or read how the bilateral factor affects ratings in both arms or both legs.

If VA owes you money back to an earlier effective date, estimate your back pay or read how back pay is calculated. If your decision letter shows a rating lower than the math supports, see what to do after a VA decision you disagree with to choose the right review lane.
